Australia marked the thirteenth anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations without a Closing the Gap statement, in a break with the long-standing practice.

While the government will present a statement to parliament on 15 February marking the anniversary, and outlining progress in the Indigenous portfolioThe 53 areas o, the new Closing the Gap implementation plan will not be released until July.
